The first step to becoming a Grinnellian.
There's something about this place.
Going to college is more than just classes and studying. This is where you’ll try new things and revisit old interests. Where you’ll meet people who become your friends and mentors for life. You’ll walk on the prairie, bike the country roads, grab a coffee downtown, and think about where this place will take you. For four years, you’ll live here. And although that story looks different for every Grinnellian, we all know there’s only one way to see what yours could look like: by coming to campus.
Summer 2018 Visits
Although the best time to visit is when classes are in session, we are happy to welcome you to campus during the summer. While class visits and faculty appointments are unavailable, you can still tour campus, attend an information session, and have an admission interview (available to rising seniors). Plus, if you come on a Monday or Friday, you can have the chance to eat on campus in our library with current students who are currently doing summer research, as well as attend a Careers, Life, and Service panel in the late afternoons.
Schedule Your Visit
We welcome any and all visitors to our campus. Just give us a heads-up and register at least 48 hours ahead of time, so we can plan a visit that best fits your interests and needs.
On-Campus Visit Activities
When you arrive for your visit, you have a lot to choose from in getting to know Grinnell. Explore our buildings and classrooms. Attend an information session. Ask current students what it’s like to be a Grinnellian. Discuss scholarships, academic programs, and more with an admission counselor or meet with the Financial Aid office to learn more about our generous need-based aid offerings.
During your visit, our admission counselors will hold an info session that covers a lot of ground: our academic programs, career development services, internship and research opportunities, admission requirements, and need- and merit-based financial aid opportunities. After your session, you’ll take a student-led campus tour that explores our academic buildings, residence halls, athletic facilities, dining hall, and more.
Beginning in February of your junior year, you can interview with one of our admission representatives on campus. An interview isn’t required for admission (and you may only interview once), but it’s a great chance for our staff to get to know you more and find out if Grinnell is a good fit for you.
ON CAMPUS PROGRAMS AND EVENTS
In the fall semester, we have two Discover Grinnell programs, and we welcome all Iowa high school seniors to visit campus for Iowa Interview Day. In February, we offer a Junior Visit Day for juniors who have begun the college search process. In April, we welcome our admitted students for one of our two Admitted Student programs.
We understand not everyone can get to campus in person. If you can’t come for a visit, or if you’d like a sneak peek before making your trip, check out our virtual tour below and see why so many call Grinnell home.
Events Near You
In addition to visiting high schools and college fairs, we also host a number of public events for future Grinnellians in cities all around the world. These events may include presentations from the Office of Admission or Office of Financial Aid, faculty members, current students, and alumni.
We’d love to know if you plan on attending one of our admission events. Fill out the form below with your information and interests, and we’ll be sure to let you know about our upcoming programs and events.
